The ART OF MEN CD showcases male solo artists and male fronted bands to apply on the compilation.

The Compilation’s mission is to create, promote and manage unique artistic creations guided by the artist's vision and under the artist's direction; creations that transcend race, age or gender and embrace passion, love for music and life, personal excellence and global consciousness.

The album is focused on 6 main elements, which the artists are asked to use as guidelines in their submission:
1. Exposure of great talent and timeless songs.
2. A celebration of male talent.
3. Hit songs that a mass audience will appreciate.
4. Songs that are positive, motivating and inspiring and talk about men's relationship with women.
5 . Following Warrior Girl Music’s mission above and about our organization.
6 . A highly creative and production-strong CD, competitive in the marketplace.

How the Compilation came together:

Gilli Moon, recording artist, songwriter and music producer in her own right, had created three compilations for female artists, called FEMALES ON FIRE, to showcase talented, undiscovered artists and spotlight them on the world stage. Over 100 artists are showcased across the 3 compilations and the project has received accolades from around the world, as well as provided the artists a community of support and cross-promotion. With all due respect, Gilli wanted to shine male artists, and in the summer of 08 put out a call for the best songs from male artists around the world. The CD is a perfect vehicle for artists to access the music industry, the media and make potential long lasting business relationships for their music. Out of 700 songs, 35 were selected!

A panel of judges (including Gilli's team from her label Warrior Girl Music, J.Walker, Rhymecologist and well-known spoken word artist, plus a panel of respected music industry consultants) chose the best songs submitted. The songs chosen are positive, motivating and inspiring and embraces global and human issues that we can all relate to and be inspired by.

Warrior Girl Music’s team have compiled the songs in a favorable order to spotlight each songs uniquely on the compilation; professionally mastered the tracks with sponsor Mastering Solutions (www.masteringsolutions.com); designed the CD artwork with eye-catching authentic oil paintings by Australian artist Julie Sydenham; and packaged the CDs through sponsor CDNet Card, (www.cdnetcard.com), L.A's leading CD manufacturer. The resulting CD compilation is presented as a professional package, which will present each artist strongly and favorably.

Females On Fire artist Sally Tomato brings home 2 Film Festival Awards from the UK

The rock opera film “Toy Room” by Females on Fire artist Sally Tomato has been touring the film festival circuit this year. It has picked up four wins and a nomination so far, as well as being selected for another 5 fests. "Toy Room" got it start as a biographical music cd on the life of Sally Tomato, evolved into a multimedia stage performance and is now one of the few rock opera films out there. "Toy Room" Rock Opera brings home 2 Film Festival Awards from the UK Portland's rock opera "Toy Room" recently received awards at international film festivals in the United Kingdom. Writers Sally Tomato and Carlos Severe Marcelin were on hand at both festivals in Swansea Bay Wales and Tamworth, England. The film was awarded "Best Music Based Video" at Swansea Bay International Film Festival and won "Best Feature Under 75 Minutes" at the Heart of England Film Festival. Sally was equally stunned to see that the Heart of England Festival (held in Tamworth) used her name in its program, titled "When Tammy Met Sally". Festival Director Nick Hudson explained that "locals from Tamworth are called Tammies" and spun the program title loosely on the film classic "When Harry Met Sally". When asked about the trip Sally said, "As soon as I smelled the air in Swansea Bay (Wales) I knew that our UK experience was going to be magical... and it was." "Toy Room" got it start as a biographical music cd on the life of Sally Tomato, evolved into a multimedia stage performance and is now one of the few rock opera films ever made. The colorful cast of characters weave through the richly textured soundscape as the story's timeless theme evolves over the course of four acts. As most of you know, I'm an Aussie artist living in Hollywood. My adventures are full on, and a lot of what I do is about nurturing other artists, so you'll notice some tips and opps for Artists within this email. Here in L.A we are in June Gloom. Have you ever heard of it? It's where summer is thwarted for a few weeks while a deep fog/haze covers the entire city and we actually experience cold weather. It's amazing how each year the gloom knows it's June. But soon it will be over and the hot, dry weather will permeate everything we do.

 

In the worx is my new album "The Stillness" which will get out later this year. Constantly in the studio and loving the process. I've written new songs, and pulled out some oldies that never got recorded, and i'm having an absolute blast. You may not know this about me, but while i've been an extravert performer, i've been the quiet songwriter, silently writing songs all the time. I've had songs in films and tv shows and it's just a fantastic journey when i'm in the studio, recording. It's in that place that I am at peace, creatively.  I'm blogging about the album process. 

 

Also on my blog is a NEW article. Yippee! I spoke at the Musician's Institute in Hollywood last week on this topic: “How to be a successful Artist Entrepreneur – the ins and outs of getting out there as an artist in the business of music”. I just finished it today. So I've now completed the article on this subject and will  be a chapter in my upcoming book, Just Get Out There.
