gilli moon takes us on a quirky, arty journey in her new music video, "The Stillness", which showcases her single "The Stillness", from the album, of the same name "the stillness". Recorded in Los Angeles (directed by My Record Label Video's Graham Daseler), including some footage from Fryman Canyon, one of gilli's favorite L.A places that reminds her of her home in Australia on a mountain top, "The Stillness" music video also features, as in the song, spoken word artist J.Walker (http://www.rhymecology.com) as gilli's higher self.

gilli has been focused on a theme in her artistry since college years, surrounding the notion of us all having various personalities within ourselves, and we choose to wear the masks we wear at appropriate times. Like an Art Video she made at the age of 19 called "Shadows", this new Music Video similarly encompasses Carl Jung-like themes about our inner shadows/demons and fears, versus the social joys and wants we reveal to the world. Hence, the video shows gilli moon's face half lit in dark and other in light, like a Rembrandt painting, portraying our inner self and our outer self; and spiritually speaking, our lower self, with our Higher Self (the all knowing). The song speaks of wanting to break out of one's shell and fears, and run in the deepest oceans and not be afraid.

"I'm an enigma in my own living room / Can't seem to get my tongue to hit the words I want to say and everything I feel, all that I am I throw out ... naked / I'm yearning for the outcome of my days / To caress my childhood fairytales / so tormented inside I stand and wait"

The premise is that we can all be who we want to be if we "take the step, be willing to learn / wait for my time, wait for my turn / and listen.... to the stillness".

On the passionate song "Be," gilli moon shows her cards as she sings, "I'm a hopeless romantic." This foreshadows the beautiful "Cos I Love You So," "Cling On" and "Secret of My Heart." Her latest, The Stillness, the singer-songwriter shines on ballads and mid-tempo numbers, but she brings the house down with the gospel-flavored epic "Silent Prophet." Moon's sixth album also features the pop goodie "I Am" and the environmentally conscious "Bushwalk." gilli moon is an Aussie singer/songwriter with a big, beautiful voice and a penchant for pop hooks and easily consumed melodies. Inspiring lyrics and great musicianship make this release a pop album that stands out from the uninspired and mediocre pop riddling the radios these days. Comparisons to Alanis Morisette and Lily Allen would not be off the mark in describing the emotion, cleverness, and soul of the stillness. Called “a female Elton John” by Billboard, gilli’s use of great piano work makes this reviewer quite happy (note that Ben Folds and Billy Joel both creep into my top artists list). A solid album cover to cover, but if the first several tracks, notably the trio of “Be”, “I Am”, and “Outside In”, don’t reel you in wanting more, you are probably deaf.

gilli moon's Days In November music video hits television in Australia

We're very excited to announce that the gilli moon music video, "Days In November" is playing on RAGE Australia, the number 1 music show on TV that plays 24/7 music videos, same time slot as Eminem and Lady Gaga!

Starring gilli moon, with bassist Andy Catt and guitarist Shawn Cunnane, the music video was filmed in South Park/Alma Colorado and is directed by David Harvey (camera) and Matt Thorne (editor).

It's a real coup and an exciting news to have a homegrown Aussie artist, living away from home in Los Angeles, be on Aussie TV. Way to go Rish Publicity for making this happen!

G'day peaceful warriors,

gilli moon here. I'm on an ammmaaaazing journey right now. I use the word 'amazing' because unfortunately I've been sucked in to watching The Bachelorette, and that's her favorite word. We counted 23 uses of that word in last night's final episode. And now that that's over, I can get onto the real stuff like... my new record. Yippee!

What's in this issue? Music videos uploaded and in the creation; great Gig this Thursday in Hollywood; touring to Tennessee in a few weeks; interviews past, present and future; what a blast. I can barely keep up with myself. I'm obsessed, totally egocentric right now, and loving it. I hope you get a chance to hear "the stillness". It's every piece of my heart in this one, and so far people have been liking it too. Phew!

Days In November - music video
We just wrapped up editing a brand new music video. #1 music video for gilli moon’s 2010 (6th) album,  "the stillness", this music video is for the song featured on the album, “Days In November”. Performed and shot in South Park Colorado (by David Harvey) while performing at a festival out there with her band mates Andy Catt and Shawn Cunnane, as well as landscapes from the tour bus going through Fargo, North Dakota, and through the Canadian Rockies, when Ms. Moon was on tour with Eric Idle (Monty Python) a few years back, the footage is now all bundled up in a tight  music video edited by Matt Thorne.  The video is about life on the road, especially as a touring artist, going from one town to the next, and "sending back postcards of lessons" one finds along the way. It's also about love, and dreaming of a time of joy and wanting to find that again. This song speaks of enjoying the journey, and looking towards tomorrow as a time of hope for all of us. The video uses the seasons (especially Fall/Winter) and the countryside, particularly gilli moon's new love for the US and Canadian landscapes that she has travelled many times now on tour. Shots from the tour bus, or beside the road emphasizes "the journey" and the very fact that in life.... we are always moving.....

Recap last month

Wow what a whirlwind 4 weeks. July has just sped by. I feel like I launched the album just yesterday but it was June 29. Since that moment, I have been on a mad dash to release, express, promote and sell. I've done a dozen radio interviews, gone to Virginia Beach and back (dolphins, and the Borders gig were a good 1st place equally), and have been on a high doing music videos. Loving life.

BRAND NEW MUSIC VIDEO

We just wrapped up editing a brand new music video. #1 music video for gilli moon’s 2010 (6th) album, “the stillness” this music video is for the song featured on the album, “Days In November”. Performed and shot in South Park Colorado (by David Harvey) while performing at a festival out there with her band mates Andy Catt and Shawn Cunnane, as well as landscapes from the tour bus going through Fargo, North Dakota, and through the Canadian Rockies, when Ms. Moon was on tour with Eric Idle (Monty Python) a few years back, the footage is now all bundled up in a tight  music video edited by Matt Thorne.  The video is about life on the road, especially as a touring artist, going from one town to the next, and "sending back postcards of lessons" one finds along the way. It's also about love, and dreaming of a time of joy and wanting to find that again. This song speaks of enjoying the journey, and looking towards tomorrow as a time of hope for all of us. The video uses the seasons (especially Fall/Winter) and the countryside, particularly gilli moon's new love for the US and Canadian landscapes that she has travelled many times now on tour. Shots from the tour bus, or beside the road emphasizes "the journey" and the very fact that in life.... we are always moving.....  . Of course,.... I knew this day would come. I had been dreaming about it all my life. The "it" day. the day I would feel goose bumps and tingles all over my body, with a heart satiated and a mind feeling accomplished. This is it, today, the day after my 6th album release, of the most fabulous album i've created, "the stillness". Mind you, all my albums have been fabulous to me, but it's always the new ones that feel the best, don't they?
